This wonderful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom semi detached property is situated on the edge of a delightful village surrounded by Almond and Olive groves within walking distance of two great bar/restaurants. The house is within easy access to Uleila del campo, Sorbas and Lubrin, all very Spanish market towns offering the best that urban life has to offer. The coastal resort of Mojacar playa is just a 40 minute drive away.
This traditional Spanish house has been brought up to modern living standards by the current designer owners. Using local materials and knowledge the house offers comfortable traditional accommodation perfectly suited to life in Andalucia. The orientation of the house makes the most of sheltered winter sun and light, warming the house in the cooler months, whilst the shaded terraces at the back of the property are perfect for taking shade during the long hot summer months.
The house is fronted by a lush, irrigated garden with oranges, pomegranates, cherries, figs, palms and flowering plants. There is a beautiful outlook from the front terrace, shaded by grape vines and scented by lovely Jasmine, honeysuckle and roses.
On from the terrace traditional antique double doors guide you into a fine looking hallway with terrazzo floors and doors leading off to the right to a beautifully decorated dining room, also off the hallway is a spacious guest bedroom, both rooms have views to the front terrace.
Leading on from here a traditional plasterwork archway provides access to the spacious sitting room, featuring exposed wooden beams, larger than average wood burning fire that heats the whole property, burning locally supplied seasoned, sweet smelling Olive & Almond wood.
This room is lit by a central pendant light, wall lights and lamps to provide a cosy and charming room ideal for entertaining.
Double glazed doors lead out to a corral with bespoke craftsman built tadelakt dip pool and wonderful shaded area, perfect for breakfast in the hot summer months. The area is surrounded by raised beds of scented geraniums and Lilies that provide a lush back drop.
Another half glazed door leads off the sitting room to the snug room situated in the centre of the house featuring a beautiful “Jotul” cast iron wood burning stove.
The snug gives access to the surprisingly modern fully fitted kitchen with central island/breakfast bar, integral appliances and built in wine rack. Light is naturally provided by a clever overhead roof window. Just off the kitchen is a good sized bathroom with large walk in shower.
An original wooden door off the kitchen leads into a sizable garage, this area could be converted to further accommodation if required as all plumbing is in place, the area would also lends itself to a perfect workshop/studio. The garage also features a car inspection pit, ideal for any car enthusiast. Just off the garage is a good sized utility room which includes a fully functional and original olive and grape press. A traditional stable door from the utility room leads out to a wonderful and spacious fenced garden area featuring a Boule pitch, a beautiful 150 year old Olive tree (Laurence Olivio!) and a delightful shaded area ideal for dining al fresco as well as relaxing during the hot summer months, the garden also has access to the corral and dip pool.
Back inside the property original stairs lead you from the living room to a landing area on the left ,currently used as an artist studio. To the right an old wooden door leads you to a large master bedroom with walk in wardrobes featuring antique doors and beamed ceilings . A door from the bedroom takes you to the roof terrace which is easily accessible from here and a good place to enjoy the views.
At the top of the stairs you enter a large open study/ library with plenty of shelving and a bedroom to the right and large family bathroom to the left.
This beautiful upstairs area has been lovingly restored by the current owners to preserve the original features throughout.
